As many people know, most DHS varsity football players have weightlifting first hour. According to the athletic department, about three fourths of the varsity football team take weightlifting first hour with Coach Johnson. I asked Camren Krodinger about the topic and he said,weightlifting first hour is not required but it is highly recommended for the reason that our team wants as much field practice as we can get, but we still need to lift to better ourselves in the weightroom. You have the opportunity to lift after practice if you are not able to take the class your first hour. Coaches encourage the football players to lift as much as they can without straining their muscles. So if you want to be a varsity football player next year, you should try to fit first weightlifting into your schedule.
