Dragons News · Girl Wrestling Makes History

This year De Soto Wrestling has taken a big step. For the first time ever, there is a girls wrestling team. We talked to these wrestlers about their first season as a Lady Dragon Wrestler.

National wrestling champion, Jaycee Foeller, has dominated boys for years. Now, she can be a leader for the girls who have joined their first year of wrestling. “We are still in a learning stage,” Foeller told us. “We all have confidence that we can do it though.”

Hunter Bullock, who also has wrestling experience, is able to help lead these girls. She told us, “Wrestling makes you push yourself and makes you mentally tough.”

Isabella Hartwell is wrestling with the girls for the first time this season. Hartwell told us, “I’ve already improved. I got my first pen at Rockwood. Wrestling is a great sport. I love it.”

Julianna Hunt is also wrestling for the first time. She had this to say, “I like wrestling a lot more than I thought I would. Our group of girls isn’t big but I think we have a lot of potential to be really good.”

We wish the girls a great season and cannot wait to see what they prove!
